Black headlights really do help make the NB generation look more modern a lot less feminine and old-school. The black windshield frame is totally worth it for anyone on here who’s still on the fence about it, especially if you already have a black hardtop or soft top...even if your convertible isn’t a Miata!
God, I miss driving this thing. It’s been sitting for a whole week and after a lengthy, careful warm-up, I winded it out a few times from 2nd through 4th on empty country roads. I was quickly reminded that while it’s almost a 15 year-old car, it’s still a hoot to drive aggressively.
I’m starting to reach the end of the road for modifications on my ‘02 Miata, considering not only my autocross stock class but also daily reliability in the event the Ranger is temporarily out of commission. From here on out, most of the work over the coming winter weeks will be for maintenance than performance or visual upgrades. At the same time, I’m edging ever closer to the Miata that set the visual bar for me.
Whoever you are, Team Fail Motorsports Miata owner, thank you for posting such clean NB2.
The front lip, rollbar, stance, and 15x8 Konig Flatouts won’t happen for a while but it’s only a matter of time. For now, I’m content with my Miata.

Are you running a smaller wheel/tire diameter than stock? That looks much higher than a stock Miata to me. 4x4 status, even.

What’re you Miata guys trying to pass for BMW asshats now? Both your car and your muse are blocking handicapped spots in those shots.
(full disclosure, it was only a funny observation on your shots, but when I saw the sign like it was attached to the rollbar on the other car, decided to run with it)

I don’t know what’s up with my ride height. I think I might have torqued it wrong when I did my shocks but, honestly, the additional bump in ride height is almost necessary for the parking lot speed bumps and ramps I have to go over.
And yes, I downsized my 16x6.5s to 15x6.5 with 205/50/R15 tires. Next set of tires will be 195/55/R15 to potentially fix my over-excited speedo.

I recommend vinyl but it’s a bitch to get the entire frame in a single sheet, you probably have to order a larger than normal cut to successfully do it. I can’t remember what 3M size I used but I had to do mine in three pieces. It’s hard to tell where unless you’re up close or if the light hits the overlaps just right.
Since you might not have the budget for MSMs, you could always try baking your headlights to easily pry the lens off, paint the inner surrounds black (or any color you want), and then bake them again to reseal them. I think that’s what the owner did for that Team Fail Motorsports Miata since his are more of a flat black finish.
Lol, I get shit from my local Miata friends for living hardtop life, but it’s also the best life when you want peace and quiet on long highway/interstate commutes.

It really works best with light-colored Miatas, so much that most late-NCs and all the NDs now rock it from the factory!

Lol, no, Mustang owners have already passed us and are the ones currently challenging BMWs for top asshat honors. :B
(It’s all good~)

Yeah I was gonna do three pieces. I’d consider baking my lights but replacements are sooooo expensive if I fuck it up. I hate convertibles, so my goal is hardtop asap

I was considering baking the chrome ones from mine but now I (and mainly, pops) want them gone and sold so I can recoup most of my money from buying those headlights. I still want to try baking at a later time if I can find a set in a junkyard or something.

That was my friends Miata in Central Florida!
He sold that car a while ago so you’ll have to scroll a ways through his feed to give him some credit on that build!
